Charcoal Summer Shawl, Free Crochet Pattern
I love, love, love shawls!
I think there is something very feminine and romantic about a beautiful, handmade shawl!
Today I want to share the pattern for this rectangular, lace shawl.

This pattern is written using US crochet terminology.
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner
Finished Measurements: about 64 inches long and 18 inches wide
Materials:
US hook size G/6 (4.25 mm)
Light worsted weight 100% acrylic yarn, about 900 yards (I used Snuggly Wuggly by Loops & Threads)
Gauge: not important
Abbreviations:
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
* * instructions between asterisks should be repeated as many times as there are stitches to accommodate them.
{ } instructions within brackets should be repeated as many times as stated.
Ch 66 (multiple of 16, plus 2)
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 5, skip next 3 ch, sc in next ch* across.
Row 2: ch 4, turn; sc in next ch-5 space, ch 5, sc in next ch-5 space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc, *{sc in next ch-5 space, ch 5} three times, sc in next ch-5 space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc* across to last 2 ch-5 spaces; sc in next ch-5 space, ch 5, sc in last ch-5 space, ch 2, dc in last sc.

Repeat Rows 4-7 until your crochet piece measures about 32 inches long. Fasten off.
Attach yarn to a corner of the starting chain and continue crocheting into the starting chain. Make the other half of the shawl in the same way.
