Simple Spider Stitch Blanket, Free Crochet Pattern
Spider stitch is one of my favorite crochet stitches! There are so many variations and so many ways to use it. Here I used basic spider stitch for a blanket pattern. I made a baby size blanket, but the pattern can be easily adjusted to any other size.

Skill Level: Beginner
Finished Measurements: approximately 35 by 27 inches
Materials:
US hook size G/6 (4.25 mm)
Light worsted 100% acrylic yarn, about 1100 yards (I used Snuggly Wuggly by Loops & Threads)
Gauge: not important
Abbreviations:
ch chain
sc single crochet
sl st slip stich
dc double crochet
* * instructions between asterisks should be repeated as many times as there are stitches to accommodate them.
Ch 112 (multiple of 26, plus 8)
Row 1: dc in 5th ch from hook ( skipped ch count as 1st dc), dc in each ch across. (109 dc)
Rows 2-3: ch 3, turn (counts as 1st dc here and throughout), dc in each dc across. (109 dc)
Row 4: ch 3, turn, dc in next 14 dc, ch 3, skip next dc, *dc in next 25 dc, ch 3, skip next dc* across to last 15 st, dc in last 15 dc.
Row 5: ch 3, turn, dc in next 12 dc, ch 3, sc in next ch-3, ch 3, skip next 2 dc, *dc in next 21 dc, ch 3, sc in next ch-3, ch 3, skip next 2 dc* across to last 13 st, dc in last 13 dc.
Row 6: ch 3, turn, dc in next 10 dc, ch 4, sc in 3rd ch of next ch-3, sc in next sc, sc in 1st ch of next ch-3, ch 4, skip next 2 dc, *dc in next 17 dc, ch 4, sc in 3rd ch of next ch-3, sc in next sc, sc in 1st ch of next ch-3, ch 4, skip next 2 dc* across to last 11 st, dc in last 11 dc.

Repeat Rows 2-11 seven times, then make Rows 2-3.
Trim:
Round 1: ch 1, do not turn, continue working in end of rows; make 2 sc in each end of rows across to next corner; make 3 sc in corner space.
Continue working into original chain, make sc in each ch across to next corner; make 3 sc in corner space.
Continue working in end of rows; make 2 sc in each end of rows across to next corner; make 3 sc in corner space.
Continue working into last row; make sc in each dc across to last corner; make 3 sc in corner space. Join round with sl st.
Rounds 2-5: ch 1, turn, sc in each sc around, make 3 sc in corner spaces; join with sl st.
Fasten off.
