Small Beginner's Doily, Easy and Quick to Make
This small doily was one of my very first attempts at designing doilies and writing patterns. I made it back in 2013.

Small Beginner’s Doily Crochet Pattern

This pattern is written using the US crochet terminology.
Skill Level: Beginner
Size: about 8.5 inches after blocking
Materials:
steel hook size 1.5 mm
Aunt Lydia's classic crochet cotton thread size 10, small amount
Abbreviations:
ch: chain
sl st: slip stich
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
tr: treble crochet
* * instructions between asterisks should be repeated as many times as there are stitches to accommodate them.
{ } instructions within brackets should be repeated as many times as stated.
Ch 9, join into ring with sl st.
Round 1: ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), 23 dc in ring. (24 dc)
Round 2: ch 3, dc in same st as joining, ch 2, *skip 1 dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 2* around; join with sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch-3. (24 dc, 12 ch-2 spaces)
Round 3: ch 4 (counts as 1st tr), tr in next dc, ch 4, *tr in next 2 dc, ch 4* around; join with sl st to 4th ch of beginning ch-4. (24 tr, 12 ch-4 spaces)
Round 4: ch 4 (counts as 1st tr), tr in next tr, ch 6, *tr in next 2 tr, ch 6* around; join with sl st to 4th ch of beginning ch-4. (24 tr, 12 ch-6 spaces)
Round 5: ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), dc in next tr, ch 3, 2 dc in next ch-6 space, ch 3, *dc in next 2 tr, ch 3, 2 dc in next ch-6 space, ch 3* around, join with sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch-3. (48 dc, 24 ch-3 spaces)
Round 6: ch 4 (counts as 1st tr), tr in next dc, ch 4, *tr in next 2 dc, ch 4* around; join with sl st into 4th ch of beginning ch-4. (48 tr, 24 ch-4 spaces)
Round 7: ch 4, tr in next tr, ch 5, *tr in next 2 tr, ch 5* around; sl st to 4th ch of beginning ch-4. (48 tr, 24 ch-5 spaces)
Round 8: sl st to space between 2 tr, ch 4 (counts as 1st tr), 6 tr in same space, ch 5, sc in space between next 2 tr, ch 5, *7 tr in space between next 2 tr, ch 5, sc in space between next 2 tr, ch 5* around, join with sl st to 4th ch of beginning ch-4. (84 tr, 12 sc, 24 ch-5 spaces)
Round 9: ch 6 (counts as 1st tr and ch 2), tr in next tr, {ch 2, tr in next tr} 5 times, ch 3, sc in next sc, ch 3, *{tr in next tr, ch 2} 6 times, tr in next tr, ch 3, sc in next sc, ch 3* around; join with sl st to 4th ch of beginning ch-6. (84 tr, 12 sc, 72 ch-2 spaces, 24 ch-3 spaces)
Round 10: ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), dc in same st as joining, {ch 5, 2 dc in next tr} 6 times, skip next ch-3 spaces, *2 dc in next tr, {ch 5, 2 dc in next tr} 6 times, skip next ch-3 spaces* around; join with sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch-3. (168 dc, 72 ch-5 spaces)
